KITTANNING, PA – Armstrong County Board of Commissioners bring community safety to the forefront as preparations begin for impending winter storm predicted to arrive Saturday, January 24, 2026 and lasting until late Sunday, or early Monday, January 26, 2026.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted this storm will bring sub-zero wind chills for Saturday along with heavy snowfall beginning Saturday night. The estimated amount of snowfall for this event is 12 inches of snow with ½ inch to 1 inch of snow fall per hour.
Due to the amount of snowfall projected with this winter storm, President Judge Chase McClister and the Armstrong County Commissioners have decided to close Armstrong County Courthouse operations for Monday, January 26, 2026.
“The Armstrong County Board of Commissioners is working closely with the Department of Public Safety to make sure information and resources are provided to first responders and the public during this time,” said Chairman John Strate.
Any warming shelters that are opened for the public can be found on the Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page. Please remember travel during this storm will be dangerous. If you do not need to be on the roads, please stay home.
“It is our priority the residents of Armstrong County stay safe throughout the weekend,” said Commissioner Pat Fabian.
“You can prepare early by keeping your electronic devices charged, allow faucets to drip slowly and think about how you will stay warm if you lose power,” said Commissioner Anthony Shea.
